In 1913, a professional nurse from the United Kingdom, named Ms. Margaret Falconer Logan, arrived at the then Shantung Christian Hospital (the predecessor of Qilu Hospital) and started the modern nursing of Nightingale practice in Qilu. Spring and autumn have iterated and sharpened the vicissitudes，from Huamei Hospital, Gonghe Hospital, Qilu Hospital and Affiliated Hospital of Shandong Medical University to Qilu Hospital of Shandong University, Qilu Nursing has been standing for 110 years, and the brand of Qilu Nursing has been innovating and developing continuously in the years of history, "Only diligent and rigorous; pursue precise and sincere; be kind and loving; seek truth and innovation".

Qilu Clinical nursing is now a National Clinical Key Specialty, Shandong Province Clinical Key Specialty, the first batch of Key Disciplines of Health Commission of Shandong Province, the executive director unit of China Elderly Care Alliance, and the National Nursing Practice Education Base of Chinese Nursing Association, etc. Qilu clinical nursing has the key specialties of Emergency and First-Aid, Intensive Care, Rehabilitation, Diabetes, Blood Purification, Operating Room Care, Obstetrics, etc. which are renowned both at home and abroad. The hospital has more than 3000 registered nurses, including 5 nurses with PhD degrees, 254 nurses with master degrees, and 98.5% of them with bachelor degrees or above. Qilu nursing team focused on the construction of the hospital "three centers and one pilot", constantly pioneering and innovating in nursing quality and safety, teaching and research, talent team construction and social responsibility, and achieved fruitful results.

In nursing quality and safety management, Qilu nursing take total quality management as the cornerstone, adhere to the whole staff, the whole process, the full range of quality management, and actively promote the application of scientific quality management tools. In recent years, Qilu nursing have won the first prize of the International and Domestic Nursing Care Quality Improvement Project continuously. It has achieved effective improvement from "sloppy" to "refined" management, and the concept of scientific management has been deeply rooted in nurses' hearts.

In terms of nursing research and teaching, to better serve the major national strategies, promote the construction of a healthy China, and help improve the overall standards of nursing disciplines, the "Cheeloo International Nursing Academic Forum" has been held annually since 2020. Up to now, there have been 6 doctoral supervisors and 41 master's supervisors; 2 vice presidents and 24 clinical part-time teachers of School of Nursing and Rehabilitation, Shandong University. Currently, there is 1 member of council and 4 vice-chairmen of the Chinese Nursing Association; 1 vice-chairman of the Shandong Nursing Association, and 39 chairmen of provincial professional committees (including designate). Qilu nursing team undertakes the clinical practice and research teaching tasks from undergraduate to master's degree, doctoral degree, and postdoctoral stage in more than 10 universities and colleges; and have 27 provincial, national and international specialized nurses training bases such as emergency, rehabilitation, critical care, operating room, gynecology, pediatrics, and nursing management, training more than 1,000 specialized nurses for the country every year. In recent years, Qilu nursing team has undertaken more than 80 national, provincial and ministerial level or international cooperation and other scientific research and teaching projects, of which there is General Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, and one sub-topic of the Key Program of National Natural Science Foundation of China, with a cumulative scientific research expenditure of more than 4.4 million yuan. There are 15 nursing patents have been successfully transformed, and the total amount of the transformation reaches more than 1.1 million yuan.

In terms of social responsibility, our Nightingale volunteer nursing service team has won national and provincial awards such as "Top Ten Volunteer Service Team" of China Nightingale volunteer nursing service team. The team has made outstanding contributions to the local medical and healthcare services by actively carrying out various voluntary activities and programs.
